Youth Programme · Launching Soon

Positioning South Africa's youth
at the centre of the AI economy.

The next decade of AI will be built by people who learned it early. Vort is building a programme to make sure South African students are among them — with real skills, real mentorship, and a real path into the industry we're building.

Why it matters

Access to AI skills shouldn't depend on where you grew up.

The countries and companies leading the AI era got there by investing early in the people who'd go on to build it. South Africa has the talent — what's often missing is early, hands-on exposure to the tools and mentorship that turn interest into a career. Vort was built by people who came up through this industry; this programme is how we open that same door to the next generation, rather than leaving it to chance.

What we're building

Four pillars of the programme.

01

Hands-on AI curriculum

Practical, project-based learning — not theory alone. Students work with real models and real data from day one, building things they can point to.

02

Mentorship from our research team

Direct access to the engineers and researchers building Vort's AI systems — pairing students with mentors who work on production AI, not just slides.

03

Real-world exposure

Site visits, guest sessions, and structured exposure to how AI is actually deployed inside South African enterprises, defence, and government.

04

A partner network for what comes next

Pathways into further study, bursaries, and internships through the schools, universities, and companies who partner with us on the programme.

Who it's for

Students who want to build,
not just study.

High school and early university students curious about AI, software, or data
No prior coding experience required — curiosity and consistency matter more
Students from communities that are usually last in line for this kind of access
Schools and institutions who want structured AI exposure for their learners

How it will work

Application process

01

Register interest

Tell us a bit about yourself — no application fee, no commitment.

02

Assessment

A short, practical exercise to see how you think and problem-solve — not a knowledge test.

03

Selection

We confirm the first cohort and let every applicant know where they stand.

04

Onboarding

Selected students get the full curriculum, schedule, and mentor introductions.

Draft structure — still being finalised

How we're planning to structure the programme.

01

Foundations

Programming fundamentals and computational thinking — no prior experience assumed.

02

Applied AI

Working with real models and datasets, building projects students can actually show off.

03

Mentored Build

A guided project with a Vort mentor, closer to how real production AI work actually happens.

04

Pathways

Placement support — further study, bursaries, or an internship, depending on what each student wants next.

Partnerships

Building relationships with South Africa's leading institutions.

We're opening conversations with universities and TVET colleges to place graduates, host mentors, and align our curriculum with what they already teach.
